What level of lead in blood is toxic for a child?

چکیده
letter noting the absence of public involvement in this process makes 2 relevant but, in my opinion, inadequate points: (1) the public had the opportunity to react to drafts of the code on the American Public Health Association Web site and (2) feedback was solicited “from a broad range of stakeholders, including the public.” The response does not mention even one non–health professional person or organization that provided feedback or was specifically solicited for feedback. It also does not explain why there was no non–health professional (“public”) person on the drafting committee. Sometime soon, I hope, this committee will enrich the code with the experiences and views of the public regarding the ethical aspects of public health practice.

Assessment of exposure to lead through air and biological monitoring in a lead and zinc mine
Background and aim: Lead is ubiquitous and one of the earliest metals discovered by the human. This metal is widely used in different industries due to its important physico-chemical properties like softness, high malleability, ductility, low melting point and resistance to corrosion. Lead absorbed in body with several routs and when transfer in blood is primarily in red blood cells. Human exp...
متن کاملThe Evaluation of Deferasirox on Hematological Parameters after Lead Administration
Background: Metals such as iron, zinc, and copper are critical and necessary for the survival of all living organisms, whereas xenobiotic metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic have no known biologic role. Any metals in high doses can have toxic effects. The aim of this work was to evaluate the hematological changes induced by lead as a toxic metal and characterize the potential eff...
متن کاملEvaluation of total and differential white blood cell counts in workers exposed to lead
Introduction: Lead is a toxic heavy metal that has adverse health effects on blood parameters. About 80% of lead produced is used in batteries, especially vehicle batteries. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the hematological changes, including total and differential white blood cell (WBC) counts in battery workers exposed to lead, and compare with the non-exposed group. Materials a...

Background and Aims: Soldering is one of the most common activities in metal industries. Lead is used in soldering process and has considerable toxic effects. The aim of this study, therefore, was biological and environmental monitoring and investigating the effects of exposure to lead in soldering unit workers at an automobile industry. Methods: In order to evaluate biological and enviro...

Background and Objectives: Exposure to lead and its effects on children's health is one of the most important and widespread concerns of human societies today. Therefore, the purpose of this systematic study was to evaluate blood lead levels in Iranian children. Materials and Methods: In this systematic review, PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Scientific Information Database (SID), and Iran Med...
متن کاملEvaluation of thyroid hormones in patients with lead poisoning
Background: Each toxic agent results in unique presentations, depending on what neurophysiological changes occur following exposure. Scientific understanding of lead toxicity in the organ systems and at low levels of exposure continues to evolve. However, effects of lead poisoning on the thyroid gland function are controversial. In this descriptive study, changes in thyroid hormones in patients...
